The South Australian Appaloosa Club
The aim of our club is to promote THE APPALOOSA HORSE.
We also provide a meeting place for all western breed enthusiasts to get together and share news and information, to learn and to compete in a safe and fun environment.
Appaloosas are a versatile breed for the whole family and are suited to many different disciplines.
Appaloosas can be found in many areas of competition including western performance, dressage, eventing, endurance riding, pony club and rodeo to name a few. They are also highly suitable for mustering and trail riding whether around home, down the beach or in the outback.
Our main focus is to provide a meeting place for Appaloosa enthusiasts as well as providing the opportunity to promote the breed through showing at our monthly shows held from September through to May each year. We aim to encourage riders of all ages and abilities. Clinics are also run regularly to educate both horse and rider.
The Appaloosa State Championships and the Diamond All Breeds Western Show are just two of the prestigious shows held during the season.
A highlight of the year is the National competition held in various locations and South Australia has produced many champion riders, handlers and horses over the years. Some of SA's most committed young riders have even had the opportunity to travel to the United States and compete under the Australian Banner.
Back at home, club members compete for end of year High Point Prizes which are awarded at our annual High Point Dinner providing a social aspect for members, friends and families to enjoy.
Whether one wishes to halter their horses (show in hand) or compete in ridden events in both English and Western disciplines, everyone is catered for from the very experienced and competitive through to youth, amateurs and novices.
Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
